Your affiliate marketing site needs to serve two very important purposes.
First, it needs to attract search engines with the use of competitive keywords. Without keyword representation, no one will ever find your website.
Secondly, it needs to convert your visitors from simply being readers to buyers of the products you are recommending. It's a delicate balance.
On one hand, you need to use keywords consistently in order to attract search engines. On the other hand, you need to appear unbiased and trustworthy to your readers.
How can you maximize your keyword placement while still maintaining the ability to appear like an unbiased industry resource?
Here are a few simple ways to incorporate keywords and provide value for your visitors.
1.Choose one page per product
Although you get more optimization mileage out of having a website that is dedicated to just one product, that can appear suspicious to your website visitors.
A better approach is to create one site that houses reviews on many products and information about the industry in general. If you follow this route, you'll need to use one page per product review.
This can help your optimization because you can use the product name several times on the page. While your overall site won't be optimized for that product name, this one specific page.
You can even add more keywords to the content by using headings like "Logitech Mouse 4Z88 Benefit #1, Logitech Mouse 4Z88 Benefit #2," etc.
2.Offer helpful information apart from the reviews
There will be many keywords in your affiliate niche that will have nothing to do with products. In addition to using these keywords in your product reviews, you should also develop stand alone content.
The stand alone content can be optimized for specific non-product keywords. It also adds to the balance of your website.
If someone is looking for product reviews on a wireless mouse and comes along to your website, they'll appreciate the additional content on the importance of ergonomics and wrist exercises.
Other webmasters will appreciate it too and they'll be more likely to link back to your site and add to your traffic. Look for a list of keywords relevant to your niche and start brainstorming content ideas. Write ten to twenty non-product specific articles (or have them written for you).
You can always submit the articles to article directories for additional back links.
3.Make sure you label your affiliate links as such.
The biggest issue with affiliate marketing and remaining unbiased is being sure that your website visitors know that you are an affiliate and that you will get paid if they click on your links.
This is essential due to laws enacted by the Federal Trade Commission regarding affiliates and fair use of affiliate links. This can be handled with a simple one line mention at the end of each page of content that purchases made from the links will go to support the website.
