One possible answer might lie in affiliate marketing. Making money with affiliate marketing is not a new activity, in fact it has been around since before the net just in a slightly different guise. Any 'associate' program that allows one to sign up as a commission agent is an affiliate program. Think of the highly successful Avon program ladies!
Affiliate marketing is simply the practice of introducing a customer to a product or service, which someone else markets, in return for a percentage of the sale value or a reward of some kind, if that introduction results in a sale.
There are variations such as a fixed dollar amount in return for introducing customers who have perhaps asked for more information even if no sale has yet occurred, these are known as "per lead" programs.
There are many reasons why ordinary people might consider becoming an affiliate, among them;
The opportunity to make some extra money without obligations to an employer
The ability to work one's own hours
The potential for high earnings (obviously some programs more than others!)
The ability to promote several different affiliate programs at once
Becoming an online affiliate adds more reasons, such as no face to face selling, which is a major turnoff for many and, of course, the lack of commuting to work!
In reality it is not as easy as some affiliate program promoters make it sound. Real success requires a measure of expertise and a little luck too. Knowing which products to promote to what audiences and how best to promote them may take a while to become second nature though there are many affiliate success stories who picked it up in practice. Those affiliates probably spent longer on the path to affiliate success than they needed to!
There are lots of programs to choose from. Clickbank for example offers a whole marketplace of digital products with high percentage commissions while physical goods can be marketed for smaller percentage commissions but large dollars in payouts, through Commission Junction and others.
